The Department of Civil Engineering, Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering & Technology, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, organized an educational field visit for the students of 6th Semester (Batch 2023) as part of its continuous efforts to provide practical knowledge and industrial exposure beyond classroom learning.
The visit was conducted at the construction site of the Central University of Punjab, Village Ghudda, District Bathinda. The primary objective was to familiarize students with real-time construction activities, project planning, site management practices, safety measures, and modern techniques being adopted in the construction industry.
A large number of students enthusiastically participated in the visit under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Manjit Bansal (Professor),
Dr. Bal Krishan (Professor), Er. Jaspreet Singh (Assistant Professor), and Er. Harpartap Singh (Assistant Professor). The faculty members guided students throughout the visit and explained various technical and managerial aspects associated with large-scale construction projects.
During the visit, students observed structural framework execution, reinforcement detailing, concrete work, site safety standards, modern machinery, material handling procedures, and quality control practices. They also gained exposure to project planning, scheduling, on-site management, and coordination among engineers, supervisors, and workers at the construction site.
The students actively interacted with site engineers and technical staff to understand the practical challenges faced during construction activities and the implementation of theoretical concepts in real-life engineering projects. The interaction proved highly beneficial in enhancing their technical understanding and professional awareness.

The field visit served as an enriching learning experience, helping bridge the gap between classroom studies and practical applications in civil engineering. Such industrial and field exposure plays an important role in developing analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and professional skills required in the engineering profession.
The Department of Civil Engineering emphasized that educational visits and industrial tours are an integral part of the academic curriculum as they provide students with firsthand experience of modern engineering practices and prepare them for future professional challenges.
The visit concluded successfully with students expressing gratitude to the department and faculty members for organizing such an informative and motivating educational experience.
