Punjab Pensioners Local Front raises concern over non disbursement of pensions, demands immediate release of dues

The Punjab Pensioners Local Front has strongly condemned the Punjab government for failing to take effective steps after banks did not release pensions for the month of April 2026 during the past week. The Front stated that if the government had cleared the banks’ pending liabilities on time, pensioners would not have been forced to face such hardship.

It is worth noting that pensioners are heavily dependent on their pensions for the treatment of age-related illnesses, purchasing medicines, and meeting other financial obligations. In the absence of pension payments, they are facing severe difficulties.

Apart from this, every pensioner had personally submitted their life certificate to the bank and had also completed eKYC formalities by visiting treasury offices and submitting their Digital Life Certificate. However, several banks are now sending messages to pensioners stating that their earlier submissions are not valid and asking them to contact the bank again to submit the Digital Life Certificate so that appropriate action can be taken to release their pending pensions.

The Pensioners Front said that such actions by the banks have created widespread anger and resentment among pensioners.

The Front has therefore appealed to the government to put pressure on the banks to release the pending pensions at the earliest and provide relief to pensioners facing these hardships.
