Chandigarh-based Indian Diplomatic Mission Officer dies mysteriously in Bangladesh

An Indian diplomatic mission in Bangladesh was shaken on Tuesday after a 38-year-old protocol officer was found dead inside the premises of the Assistant High Commission in Chattogram, (Bangladesh) prompting local police to launch an investigation into the mysterious incident.
The deceased has been identified as Naren Dhar, a resident of Chandigarh, who was serving as a security protocol officer at the Indian mission located in Chattogram’s Khulshi area in Bangladesh.
As per reports, officials from the Chattogram Metropolitan Police, authorities were alerted by mission staff after Dhar failed to respond from inside his room on Tuesday morning. Concerned colleagues reportedly made repeated attempts to contact him before informing local police.
As per media reports, the body was recovered from in front of the bathroom door of a data entry room on the second floor of the old visa centre building within the mission premises. The exact cause of death is yet to be determined.
The incident has raised concern within diplomatic circles, while investigators have not yet confirmed whether foul play is suspected. Police said an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death.
As the deceased was a foreign national, police completed the necessary formalities before sending the body to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for a postmortem.
