Last year, the “Blue Drum” murder of a Merchant Navy officer, allegedly committed by his wife and her lover, had shocked the nation. A similar incident has once again sent shockwaves through Patiala.
On Wednesday morning, the body of a young woman in her twenties was found stuffed inside a blue drum beneath the overbridge near Patiala Locomotive Works (formerly DMW/DCW), which connects the Rajpura–Sirhind road in Patiala.
According to available information, a passerby alerted the police after noticing a human hand protruding from the drum.
When police reached the spot, they recovered the body of the young woman, who reportedly had a tattoo reading “Neha” on her arm. Preliminary reports suggest that the victim may have been a migrant worker. Bruises were also found on her face, raising suspicion of foul play.
The investigating officer of Urban Estate Police Station, ASI Amandeep Singh said “we have shifted the body to mortuary as per the law and simultaneously started the investigation. The police is scrutinizing the CCTVs installed near or the roads leading to the spot. We are trying to identify the deceased so that the FIR can be lodged.”
More details awaited
