Former Indian shooter and Olympian, Randhir Singh, cousin brother of Capt Amarinder Singh has passed away on Wednesday at the age of 79.
Raja Randhir Singh was the son of Indian Olympian and sports administrator Raja Bhalindra Singh (younger son of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala) and the grandson of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. Bhalindra Singh was an Indian sports administrator, politician and first class cricketer. Singh was an influential sports administrator who held positions in international and Indian sports governing bodies. He was a member of the International Olympic Committee from 1947 to 1992
Randhir Singh was a five-time Olympic shooter. His Olympic appearances came in Tokyo 1964 (Reserve Shooter), Mexico 1968, Munich 1972, Montreal 1976, Moscow 1980 and Los Angeles 1984.He became India’s first Asian Games shooting gold-medallist in 1978 in Bangkok.

The Arjuna Awardee held different administrative posts in Indian and Asian sports bodies. He served as the Secretary General of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) from 1987 to 2012. Randhir was also a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) between 2001 and 2014,
He is survived by his wife Vinita and three daughters — Mahima, Sunaina and Rajeshwari, who is also a shooter.
