Rice millers to get incentives for early registration-Anindita Mitra

The Punjab food and civil supplies department announced incentives and priority allotment of paddy to the millers who sign the agreement before October 10.

Anindita Mitra ,IAS, Punjab Food and civil supplies director visited the Rajpura grain market in Patiala to conduct a survey for lifting of the crop.  She was successful in starting the lifting process and directed the procurement agencies to speed up the lifting process.

Mitra further informed that “we only need around 2,000 mills to produce rice, while the state has 4093 registered rice mills in Punjab and out of this till date 1645 have applied for allotment of space in grain markets, of which 1335 were granted the allotment.

She said the state government’s commitment to ensure hassle-free procurement, the government stands by all genuine millers. She said all those who apply within the stipulated time will be suitably rewarded with an increased quantum of allotment.

She said the state was expecting 170 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, of which 1.68 lakh metric tonnes had been purchased.

Meanwhile, Mitra said” we will procure paddy only if it meets our specifications and government is keen on making sure that farmers and millers do not face any problem in the lifting process”

Recently Punjab government has also initiated the process of registration of Commission Agents (arhtiyas) on the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) in Punjab. The Spokesman informed that the State Procurement Agencies are proactively supporting the training of Arhtiyas on use of the PFMS software and are assisting them in uploading the Bank Account details of the farmers and linking them with Arhtiya Bank Accounts on PFMS.
