World University organised Moot Court competition

The University School of law of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University organised a Moot Court competition. The most of the problems debated were concerned with matrimonial disputes highlighting the cruelty of the issue. The students from various classes participated with full enthusiasm. The Moot court was presided by Navneet Kaur, Assistant Professor and Aman Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Law. Total 7 teams participated in the competition. Suman Bhangu (B.A.LLB) Semester 7th awarded with the tittle of best Mooter and the students of the winner team of the competition were Parminder Kaur, Mankirat Singh, Sanya (LL.B Semester 3rd).
The Vice-Chancellor of the University Dr. Prit Pal Singh congratulated the students and the department for organising such competitions which will help the students for their overall development of their personalities. Dr. R.K. Sharma, Head of the Department and Dr. Sunaina, In- charge, Department of Law distributed the prizes to the winners and encouraged the students to participate in such competitions for having good understanding of the courts’ proceedings.
About Moot court
Moot court is an extracurricular activity at many law schools in which participants take part in simulated court or arbitration proceedings, usually involving drafting memorials or memoranda and participating in oral argument. In most countries, the phrase “moot court” may be shortened to simply “moot” or “mooting”. Participants are either referred to as “mooters” or, less conventionally, “mooties”.
