Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce members met Speaker

The delegation of Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce led by Kanwar Dhanjal today called on the Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Rana K.P. Singh.

During the course of parleys, the issue of strengthening trade relations between Punjab and Canada was debated upon.Welcoming the delegation, Rana KP Singh said that a congenial atmosphere has been created for trade and business activities in Punjab under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh and many pro-industrial policies are being implemented in the State. He further said that the Indian community in general and punjabi community in particular has made a lot of progress in Canada and this progress has also rubbed off positively on the canadian economy. The Speaker appealed to the delegation members that the NRI Punjabi industrialists should come forward to contribute to the maximum extent in the development of their motherland Punjab.

On the occasion, the delegation members exhibited keen interest in bilateral business activities in food security, education, agro based industries and other sectors. The Speaker further said that a separate meeting with the Chief Minister would yield positive results.

The delegation members apprised Speaker that their organisation is non-political and their goal is consider economic issues only. Appreciating the view, the Speaker said that in order to uplift the standard of living of the people living in the economically backward areas, the industrialists must come forward instead of meddling in politics.

A member of the delegation Jagdish Singh Grewal expressed concern that most of the political leaders from Canada on coming to Punjab just indulge in photo ops but do not focus on strengthening and exploring business opportunities. He hoped that the visit of the canadian delegation would boost the trade relations between Punjab and Canada.Among others present on the occasion included MLAs  Som Prakash and Angad Singh Saini.
