Corona targets State bank of India in Patiala

It seems, all is not going well with employees of State Bank of India, in Patiala. Today 11 employees of its Chowk Fort (Qila Chowk) branch tested covid 19 positive. Health authorities have closed the branch.

Since the inception of corona and opening of banks for public dealings, after the lifting of curfew,  employees of SBI- YPS branch, Chowk fort branch, Bhupindra road branch, have alraedy tested Covid 19 positive.

But today 11 employees of one branch have raised the eyebrows of everyone. Even health authorities are worried with this.

Employees of SBI are keeping their fingers crossed, as one employee of its RACPC cell (loan branch) , at its main office at sheranwala gate (earlier head office of state bank of Patiala) tested covid positive.

Confirming the same Gaurav, assistant general manager of RACPC cell has also informed that “one employee of the RACPC cell is tested covid 19 positive and around 30 employees of RACPC cell, mall road branch , who were in close contact with the Covid 19 employee, were tested, as a precautionary measure and their reports are awaited”.

Even Chhoti Baradari branch is also under threat as reports of staff members are awaited, after the employees came into contact with Covid 19 person.

On the condition of anonymity, an employee of the state bank of India said, “ bankers are facing an uphill task as they are under  intensive threat from being effected from the civid19 while providing the banking services to the public. They are working under tremendous fear as they and their families are at high risk.  The association at all India level has already urged the govt. to take concrete action, to safe guard the lives of the bankers. They had demanded the staff be deputed on rotation basis or the bank may operate with 50 percent staff and public dealing timings must be curtailed, along with other demands.”
