Pollywood star died due to Covid 19; CM condoles his death

Veteran Punjabi star Satish Kaul, whose credits include working in over 300 Punjabi and Hindi films and played the role of Indra in Mahabharat, breathed his last in Ludhiana. He passed away due to Covid-19

Satish Kaul had worked with Bollywood actors such as Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar and Shahrukh Khan amongst others. His notable film roles included ones in Sassi Punnu, Ishq Nimana, Suhag Chooda and Patola.

Satish Kaul won the “lifetime achievement” award for his contribution to Punjabi cinema at PTC Punjabi Film Awards 2011. Satish Kaul is regarded as one of the most successful regional film actors of all time. Some people still refer him as the “Amitabh Bachchan of Punjabi cinema”.

Satish Kaul started an acting school in Ludhiana, which lost money. His wife divorced him and left with their son to United States. Once he was worth crores, however, in recent times, sometimes he could not get anything to eat for several days.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday condoled the sad demise of veteran Punjabi actor Satish Kaul (76), who passed away in a private hospital at Ludhiana this afternoon.

In a condolence message, the Chief Minister described Satish Kaul as a versatile actor, who played a pivotal role in the promotion of Punjabi cinema, art and culture.

Being a staunch votary of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiyat, Satish Kaul would be ever remembered by one and all for his enormous contribution for making Punjabi cinema popular amongst the people.

Expressing his heartfelt sympathies with the family members, relatives and friends, Captain Amarinder Singh prayed to the Almighty to give courage to bear this irreparable loss in the hour of grief and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.
