Punjabi university Journalism department orgainsed workshop on Punjabi Computing Skills

Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Punjabi University, Patiala conducted a two days workshop on Punjabi Computing Skills to help Journalism students and research scholars learn and strengthen language skills through technological advancements. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Kapil Dev Goyal and coordinated by Professor, Computer Science Department Dr. Vishal Goyal.
This two day online session was focused on Punjabi Computing: Introduction, Working with Punjabi Fonts : Unicode and Non Unicode, Keyboard Layouts for Typing Punjabi for PC and Mobiles, Punjabi Unicode Typing on PC and Mobiles (Through Keyboard, Speech and Handwriting) , How to use Punjabi Fonts in MS-Office (MS-Word, MS-Power Point and MS-Excel), Using Punjabi Language Tools: Punjabi Spell Checker, Punjabi Grammar Checker, Punjabi Dictionaries, PunjabiPedia, Translators, Transliteration OCR, Font Convertor, Search Engines and Sorting Punjabi Text.
Dr. Kapil Dev Goyal talked in detail about practical component of all these applications. Head of th the Department Dr. Happy Jeji told that Journalism and mass communication students especially need to learn new media tools and techniques for enhancing their media and communication skills. Dr. Nancy Davinder Kaur said Such exercise in Punjabi computing will be continued and evaluated on regular basis, she said.
