Shortage of IAS officers in Punjab? Key post charge given to junior officer

In a surprise move, Punjab government has transferred the state transport commissioner (STC) Dr Amarpal Singh, IAS and gave the additional charge to of this high profile post to a PCS officer Amarvir Singh Sidhu.

Amarvir Singh Sidhu , PCS is an additional state transport commissioner. As per the orders, the additional charge is given to Amarvir Singh Sidhu, with the consent of state transport minister.

It’s a one of the key post and an IAS officer is made the STC by the government. But for the first time in this congress ruled state that a PCS officer has been given the charge of a key post and that to an additional charge, when senior officers are their.

Earlier, in SAD-BJP regime a transport department official Harmail Singh Sra was made state transport commissioner, who was neither an IAS or a PCS officer. “Blue-eyed” man of the Badals, Harmel Singh Sra, was also appointed CEO of the Punjab State Transport Society for five years by the previous SAD-BJP government.

When contacted a retired IAS officer, who remained the state transport commissioner (STC) said “the state government has many IAS officer and giving this high profile post, which fills the coffers of the state government with taxes to a PCS officer, shows the non-seriousness behavior of the government. ”

Recently K Siva Prasad , Principal secretary Transport had issued the orders of Satvinder Singh  as Director PEPSU Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) and nominated him as Chairman, PRTC from the date he assumes charge, means not appointed him a regular chairman.
