Guru Nanak Chair be established at Rajasthan-VC Pbi Uni

Patiala-Maharana Pratap Chair,  Department of history, Punjabi University Patiala in collaboration with Department of History, Bhupal Nobles University, Udaipur, Organized a one day seminar on the theme, “Maharana Pratap: An Eminent Freedom fighter in the Indian subcontinental history” at  Bhupal Nobles University,  Udaipur.

The chief Guest of the seminar  VP Singh Badnore, Governor, Punjab highlighted the achievements of Maharana Pratap to show how he became an ideal figure for the Sikhs and Marathas during the eighteenth century and the freedom fighters of of the Indian National Movement. He also hoped that the chair would  historically investigate varied aspects related to Punjab and Rajasthan.

Professor B. S Ghuman Vice Chancellor Punjabi University, Patiala who was a guest of honour emphasized  the similarities between the Rajput and the Sikhs and terms of bravery, courage and Martial spirit. He stated that there was a need to identify the places of Rajasthan connected with the travels   of Guru Nanak,   Guru Teg Bahadur and Guru Gobind Singh as well as the relation between Banda Singh Bahadur and the Rajputs. The contribution of Maharana Pratap in administration and public welfare policies as well as his role in National Integration needs further investigation he pointed out .

He pointed out that just as Maharana Pratap Chair had been established in Punjabi University,Patiala, similarly Guru Nanak Chair be established in Rajasthan in honour of the Great Guru.Dr Rima hooja  keynote speaker highlighted the multifaceted personality of Maharana Pratap and emphasized the need for mapping the Battle of Haldighati as well as the other battles fought by Maharana Pratap.

The welcome address was delivered by president BN University, Udaipur. Dr. Jaspal Kaur Dhanju, professor incharge, Maharana Pratap Chair, Punjabi University Patiala introduced the theme of seminar . Gunwant Singh, Jhala, chairperson Bhupal Nobles, University Udaipur presented the vote of thanks. About  ten Scholars who are working on Maharana Pratap were felicitated on the occasion. A number of scholars from various Universities are participating in the seminar.
