Former athletes of Malwa College Bathinda clinched three gold medals in the recently concluded 18th Asian Games at Jakarta, Indonesia. Tajinderpal Singh Toor pelted Iron ball at a distance of 20.75 mts., bagged Gold Medal with creating New Asian Games and National record. It is important to mention here that this athlete has already made his presence felt in international meets. During his stay in the college he represented India in World University Games at Korea 2015, Common Wealth Games Australia 2018. It is worth mentioning that Toor has shattered the national record of Olympian Om Parkash Singh Karhana who was also the student of this very college.

Arpinder Singh bagged Gold Medal in Triple Jump performing 16.77 mts. India bagged Gold medal in triple jump after 48 years. This athlete has already made his presence felt in international events. He also won bronze medal in Glasgow Common Wealth Games 2014, Won Gold Medal in Indoor Asian Games 2018, won bronze medal in Asian Athletics Championship-2013 Pune. He represented the country in Jr. World Athletics Championship at Moncton Canada 2010.

The another athlete Manjit Singh Won gold medal in 800 mts. India bagged this after 1982 Asian Games New Delhi in which Charles Bromeo has won Gold medal for India.

KPS Brar, IRS, Gen Secretary Punjab Athletic Association, gave hearty congratulated the athletes who brought laurel to the country and he also congratulate the Management, staff and students of the college. He added that previously also the athletes of the college have won medals in the Asian athletics championships. To win three Gold medals in Asian Games is a wonderful achievement. It is worth mentioning that with six individual gold medals India has secured third place in overall medal tally in athletics and from which in Malwa College has contributed in three gold medals.

It is pertinent to mention here that many athletes of this college have participated in the International level championships. The outstanding athlete OP Singh Karhana has represented the Country in 2012 London Olympics. Patwant Kaur (Shot put), Navpreet Kaur (Hepthalen), Suresh Kumar (10000 mts.) have represented the country in Common Wealth Games. Narbhai Singh (Discuss Throw), Pornima Hembram (Hepthalen), Sumerjeet Singh (Javelin Throw) have also represented the nation at international level.
