Patiala police have registered five FIRs against youngsters, persons disobeying Punjab government orders and for glorying gun culture on social media accounts.
Punjab government had already announced a ban on the public display of firearms and issued a stern warning to not to display, sing, and promote gun culture in the state.
Acting swiftly, the Patiala police have booked five persons for violating the government orders banning display of fire arms on social media. The police have booked Amarinder Singh a resident of Jagtar Nagar under section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 153 (by doing anything which is illegal, gives provocation to any person intending or knowing it to be likely that such provocation will cause the offence of rioting to be committed,) IPC, Sukhdeep Singh alias Sunny a resident of Ranjit Nagar-F, Tripuri under section 153, 188, 506 IPC, Vipin, a resident of Darukuttia, under section 153, 188 IPC, Rajesh Kumar alias Pinka Sharma, a resident of Partap Colony, Samana under section 153, 188 IPC and Harsh Goyal resident of Ckit Factory under section 188,153, 506 IPC.
As per senior superintendent of police, Patiala, Varun Sharma “the accused Amrinder Singh has posted number of photographs, videos on his Instagram ID chahal_amrinder . Whereas Sukhdeep Singh alias Sunny has posted photographs with guns on his Instagram account cheeme_saideala_0005 with an intention to threaten public. He had already threatened some persons. The interested point is that weapons displayed by Sukhdeep Singh on his social media account belonged to one of his acquaintances Chatwinder Singh. Now, police has booked both Sukhdeep Singh and Chatwinder Singh under Sections 153, 188 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.
SSP Sharma added that the accused Vipin, Rajesh Kumar alias Pinka Sharma and Harsh Goyal had been regularly posting photos, videos brandishing guns on their social media accounts.
SSP Sharma further added that “the Patiala police have adopted a zero tolerance against glorifying gun culture. We have written to the district administration to cancel the arms licences of the suspects.”
