Indian medical Association, Patiaĺa and woman doctor’s wing IMA Patiaĺa, yesterday, launched ‘Mission Pink Health ‘ at Veer Haqiqat Rai  School Patiaĺa to celebrate National Girl Child Day.

Under this mission, adolescent school girls and boys in the age group of 9 to 18 years were screened for presence of Anaemia. Blood samples were taken and sent to lab . Girls and boys were educated about healthy diet and importance of healthy lifestyle. IMA explained them about anaemia and iron rich diet using powe point presentation and also distributed Fruits.

Girls were also educated about Menstrual Health by various gynaecologists of Patiala. They imparted correct knowledge about menstrual hygiene and emphasised the use of clean cotton reusable materials during periods. They also organised a workshop where young girls were taught how to make reusable ,skin friendly and environment friendly sanitary pads. Learned gynaecologists answered all the questions and tried to clear all doubts and taboos in the minds of young girls .They expressed concern over rising cervical cancer in women and emphasised the need for vaccination against it .

Dr Nidhi Bansal secretary IMA Patiaĺa told media that Over 450 girls and boys of Veer Haqiqat Rai School were screened for presence of anaemia by the physicians of Indian medical Association Patiala and those found clinically Anaemic were tested for haemoglobin via blood samples taken on site.

Dr Chandermohini,President IMA Patiaĺa said that Whosoever has haemoglobin less than standard will be given medications and followed up for a period of 90 days by various members of Indian medical Association, Patiala and given medication directly under observation of their teachers.

Dr Bhagwant Singh ,President Punjab State IMA said that this is a very important Mission of National IMA and we will continue our efforts to screen each and every child and pregnant women.

Sarla , Principal and teachers of Veer Haqiqat Rai school participated and supported with full enthusiasm and helped make the Mission so successful
