Deliberations on Philosophy of Guru Ravidas at Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University

Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University, Patiala, organised an online seminar on Life, Philosophy, and Teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji on the occasion of his 646th birth anniversary on 5 February 2023. Professor Ronki Ram, Department of Political Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, was the keynote speaker. Expanding on the belief of Guru Ravidasin non-anthromorphic God, Prof Ronki Ram said, “He laid emphasis on formless God, self-respect, dignity of labour and compassion for all.” “Guru Ravidas used bhakti as a method of social protest,” he added.
Prof.Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, JGND PSOU, said, “The egalitarian teachings of Guru Ravidas provided new vistas for social mobility. His steadfast determination to challenge oppressive structures facilitated liberationof the marginalised.”Prof. G.S. Batra, Dean Academic Affairs, said, “The non-violent social defiance of Guru Ravidaseffectively paved way for transformation.”
