DEO issues diktat to schools; district administration bars private schools from selling books, uniforms

Before the beginning of a new academic session, today, district education officer (senior secondary) Patiala issue a reminder to all the heads of private school management, principals to comply with the guidelines issued to them, earlier regarding the display of information relating to the fee structure, a list of books and uniforms, and a list of vendors on notice boards and the websites of schools.
The orders strictly mentioned that no parent is compelled to buy the books, bags, uniforms etc from a particular vendor.
The DEO had already instructed the schools to issue a list of multiple vendors for getting school supplies to the parents so that they can have the option to buy them as per their convenience.
“If the school fails to comply with these guidelines, strict action will be taken against the school’s management. District administration will also do a compliance audit of all the private schools in the month of April 2023 ” added the DEO in the official communication to the heads , principals of the schools.
