Punjab government will compensate for the loss of farmers; Jouramajra visits the villages to assess crop damage

Punjab Information and Public Relations, Horticulture and Defense Services Welfare Minister Chetan Singh Jauramajra today visited Sassi Brahmana, Sassa Gujran, Bhagwanpura, Dharmerhi, Ghiura, Bibipur and Randhawa etc. to assess the crop damage due to unseasonal rain and hailstorm in the villages of his constituency Samana.
SDM Patiala Dr Ismat Vijay Singh, Aam Aadmi Party Urban District President Tejinder Mehta, Gurdev Singh Tiwana and other dignitaries were present with the minister.
While meeting with farmers, Cabinet Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has proved to be a farmer-friendly government, because, within two days of the natural disaster, the Chief Minister met the affected farmers of the state and assessed the damage.
He said that the Chief Minister, giving a big relief to the farmers of the state, increased the compensation for crop damage by 25 per cent and by taking another important decision today, he has also given one year’s delay in paying the instalments of the limits of the cooperative societies.
Giving assurance to the farmers of Sassi Brahmana, Sassa Gujran, Dharmerhi, Bhagwan Pura, Chetan Singh Jouramajra said that a pipeline will be laid up to Mirapur Chow to stop rainwater flooding in this area and to drain the excess rainwater. He said that the Punjab government will compensate for the loss caused to the farmers due to nature’s calamity.
Chetan Singh Jouramajra said that according to the decision of the Chief Minister, if the crop loss is more than 75 per cent, then the state government will compensate the farmers at the rate of Rs. 15,000 per acre and if the loss is between 33 to 75 per cent, then Rs. 6,750 per acre. In addition to giving compensation according to the calculation, 10 per cent compensation will also be given to the workers, so that they do not face any financial difficulties. Apart from this, Rs 95,100 will be given as compensation for the loss of entire houses, while Rs 5,200 will be given for minor damage to houses.
The cabinet minister said that the farmers’ crops will be assessed in a transparent manner by the officials in meetings with the farmers and adequate compensation will be given only in a transparent manner,
He met the people in different villages and said that he always stands with the farmers and all citizens of his constituency and will serve the people in the same way in the future.
