Punjabi university mathematics department organized educational tour in association with ‘YUVA Tourism Club’

The Department of Mathematics at Punjabi University, Patiala, organized an exciting four-day educational tour to Dalhousie and McLeodganj in association with its ‘YUVA Tourism Club.’ This club is committed to nurturing and developing young ambassadors of Indian tourism and promote the values of National Integration, International Brotherhood And inculcate unsupervised learning as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
Dr. Parveen Lata, the Head of the Department of Mathematics, emphasized the importance of such educational tours for students, as they provide exposure to different cultures and lifestyles beyond the classroom, giving them practical knowledge.
From 28th March 2023 to 31st March 2023, undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. research scholars from India, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Afghanistan, along with faculty members Dr. Mukhdeep Singh Manshahia, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, and Dr. Rupali Kaushal participated in the tour.
The group visited various places of historical and cultural importance, including St. John’s Church, Subhash Baoli, and Panchpula, during their stay in Dalhousie. The students also had the opportunity to visit Khajjiar Lake, which is also known as the Mini Switzerland of India.
After spending two days in Dalhousie, the group headed towards McLeodganj, a popular tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh, which is also known as the residence of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The students were excited to visit this place and learn about the Tibetan culture and lifestyle.
In McLeodganj, the students explored the famous Bhagsunag Waterfall, Kangra Fort, HPCA Stadium, and Dharamshala Skyway Ropeway.

The Department of Mathematics at Punjabi University, Patiala, aims to organize more such educational tours to help students learn beyond their academic curriculum and develop a better understanding of the diverse culture and heritage of India.
