MLA Gurpreet Banawala inaugurates Community Centre and Farmer Resource Centre developed by TSPL

Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), the largest thermal power plant in Punjab, has dedicated a community centre and a Farmers Resource Centre(FRC) equipped with advanced multi-crop bed planter & several other agricultural equipment to the villagers of Talwandi Aklia Village of Mansa. Gurpreet Banawala, MLA-Sardulgarh inaugurated the new community centre and FRC at Talwandi Aklian village, in the presence of BDPO-Jhunir& TSPL Senior leaders.
Project Gram Nirman and project Navi Disha are the company’s flagship CSR projects with an aim to develop community assets and extend support to farmers with advance equipment and relevant agri information respectively. Project Navi Disha has an outreach of over 2000 farmers from 26 villages of Mansa and Bhatinda districts of Punjab and is implemented by The Nabha Foundation (TNF). TSPL’s project Gram Nirman has transformed the contours of rural Punjab through development need based strategic community assets in the vicinity. Over 50 community assets which includes development of community parks, play stations for children, open gym for youth, sanitation facilities at bus shed etc. have been developed to-date enhancing the lives of rural community. The newly developed community centre along with FRC at Talwandi Aklia will serve a dual purpose of providing recreational opportunities to the community members inter-alia augmenting resources for the farmers- promoting sustainable agriculture.
Gurpreet Banawala, MLA – Sardulgarh appreciated TSPL’s dedication towards the development of the community and said,”I take this opportunity to thank TSPL for their efforts towards developing community assets and contributing towards enhancing the living standards of the community. TSPL’s efforts of providing agriculture equipment to the farmers is a unique initiative which will go a long way in transforming the landscape of sustainable agriculture.”
Speaking about TSPL’s role in elevating rural agrarian economy in Mansa and Bhatinda, Ravinder Thakur, Head O&M TSPL said, “Farmers are the backbone of our economy & if sufficiently enabled with technology, knowhow and expertise, the farming community can bring about a sea change in our socio-economic fabric. As a responsible corporate we are committed to the holistic social development of the peripheral communities. We shall continue to support them in all possible ways to ensure holistic and all-inclusive growth of the community.”
