AIPEF urges CM Madhya Pradesh to allow Amarkantak 660 MW thermal unit by state generating company

All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) has urged the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh to allow the construction of 660 MW supercritical thermal unit in place of retired units at Amarkantak Thermal Power Station by Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company Ltd (MPPGCL) instead of joint venture company.
Shalindra Dubey Chairman AIPEF in his letter to chief minister mentions that the unfortunate decision to form a joint venture between MP Power Generating Company Limited and South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) , a subsidiary of Coal India Limited has been taken and this needs to be revoked.
It may be mentioned that the state government committee has recommended the construction of two 660 MW units in state sector only. The memorandum of understanding (MoU ) does not mention the operation and maintenance of thermal unit and is silent about the working conditions of employees and engineers. The MP power employees are feeling cheated by the actions of the state government.
V K Gupta spokesperson AIPEF said that for the financial support of the Rs 4,665 crores project, 70 per cent loan will be provided by the financial institutions, 15 per cent share capital by SECL and the remaining 15 per cent share capital by the state government from the budget to the MPPGCL. As SECL will be providing only 15% of the amount there is no justification in forming the joint venture as this amount can also be arranged from financial institutions.
It may be mentioned that in case of the coming up of super thermal unit in the state sector completely , it will be easy to get personnel support and spares from the existing similar super thermal plant units at Singaji and Satpura thermal units in case of emergency.
AIPEF urges CM Madhya Pradesh to allow Amarkantak 660 MW thermal unit by state generating company. In view of the poor track record of joint ventures , it is once again requested that joint ventures be scrapped and state generating company be allowed to execute the super critical thermal unit by itself.
