Dheeremajra Diarrhea Outbreak: situation Under Control as no fresh case reported since 24 hours- DC

Acute Diarrhoeal Disease Outbreak in Village Dheeremajra of Lalru is under control as no fresh case has been reported since Saturday afternoon said, DC Mohali Ashika Jain on Sunday at Mohali after reviewing the situation with the different departments pushed to contain the disease.

She said that a total of 65 cases were reported on the last three days besides deaths of two infants (one is of three Months and another of one and half year) which are the part of medical investigation whether both the deaths were because of diarrheal disease. Out of the affected 65 cases, all are stable and are in the recovery phase barring one undergoing indoor treatment at Dera Bassi Hospital.

She added, “we are closely monitoring the situation and medical teams have been put on task to avert any further aloutbteak of the disease”. She further said that the report of water source (Tubewell) has been tested and chemical composition found correct while of consumers’ still awaited, but as a precaution the drinking water is being supplied through two tankers. Even the water supply pipeline has also been checked out and no leakage found. Besides, some of the consumers who have been suspected of leakage in their private connections have been disconnected.

Sub Divisional Magistrate, Himanshu Gupta while briefing about the preventive measures, said that medical teams had completed three rounds of house to house survey of total 186 houses. Similarly, medical camp is being organised from the last three days in the village. ORS is being distributed and medical education and awareness is being imparted to the people. The situation is under Surveillance and no new case has been reported since 1 pm, yesterday.

The Civil Surgeon Dr Mahesh Kumar Ahuja said that the medical teams under the monitoring of Dr Dharminder Kumar, SMO Dera Bassi and Dr Naveen Kaushik, SMO Lalru have been already working to further contain the disease. He said, in case of any emergency or medical need, one should dial 104, too.
