Another milestone for PSPCL; sets new record of 3435 LU power supply in a day

PSPCL  set a new record   of 3435.4 lakh units power supply on a single day on June 24 this year against the last year record of  maximum power supply of 3344 lakh units on June 28 .This is 91 lakh units more than the previous years record.

PSPCL also  set a new record  maximum power demand of 15325 MW on June 23 this year. Last year the maximum power demand in Punjab was 14311 MW.

Punjab purchased  140 million units  in the week from  June 18 to 24 in the day ahead market and 69 million units on a real time basis to meet the rising power demand in the state. Punjab is conserving coal by shutting its own units while purchasing power from grid at cheaper rates, PSPCL purchased power On Monday 104 lakh units on real time basis at average rate of Rs. 2.53 per unit and 302 lakh units on day ahead basis at average rate  Rs. 4.05 per unit.

Another milestone for PSPCL ;sets new record of 3435 LU power supply in a day. Now with the start of the rainy  season in parts of Punjab , the power demand has dipped .On Monday maximum over demand dipped to 12462 MW and today it is around 13700 MW.

Today only one unit at Ropar and Lehra Mohabbat are operating. One unit of Talwandi Sabo is down in low demand period  due to abnormal sound in the boiler and likely to be revived on 30th.Gross generation in Punjab from all sources  is around 4300 MW and scheduled drawl from northern grid is more than 9200 MW.

The coal stock at Lehra Mohabbat and Ropar thermal plants are for 24  and 42 days respectively. The coal stock in private sector thermal plants Rajpura  has 35 days, Talwandi Sabo 6  days and GVK  4 days only

The water level in the hydro plants reservoir  is improving following heavy rain in catchment areas. The water level in Bhakra reservoir is 1588  feet which is 33 feet  more than last year’s level of 1555 feet on corresponding day. At Ranjit  Sagar water level is 512.27  which is more than 9 meters  higher from last  year’s level of   503.4 meters.
