Health Minister announces facilitation centres to be opened in all hospitals soon

In a bid to ensure the best possible healthcare services to the people of the state as desired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh to visit all the government hospitals across the state.

He revealed this while kick starting his Punjab tour from the Patiala district. He further announced that Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan led Punjab Government will start Facilitation Centres in all the government hospitals of the state very soon, for which a complete road map has been prepared to revolutionise the health sector.

Dr Balbir Singh along with MLA Gurlal Ghanour inspected the new and old building of the CHC hospital and also interacted with the doctors and patients to familiarise with the ground reality. He said that the new building of Ghanour hospital will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann very soon.

Dr Balbir Singh also inspected the Mata Kaushalya Hospital Patiala and later, he visited the newly constructed building of the Civil Hospital, Nabha along with local MLA Gurdev Singh Dev Mann. MD Punjab Health System Corporation Pradeep Agarwal was also present during his visit to the hospital.

Meanwhile, talking to the media, Dr Balbir Singh said that it is also a change in the system that the Health Minister is visiting all hospitals to improve the health care facilities in the state. He will report to the Chief Minister after completing his tour of entire Punjab to robust the state’s health sector.

The Punjab Government has improved primary health care by opening over 580 Aam Aadmi clinics in the state and now, he will be visiting all hospitals across the state to upgrade the secondary health facilities. Emergency and tertiary care services at the government Rajindra Hospital have already been improved, he added.

The proper use of the existing equipment and infrastructure will also be ensured. In secondary care, community health centres, sub-division hospitals and district hospitals will be improved by ensuring deployment of doctors, nursing and paramedics staff. While 550 medical officers have been recruited for house jobs and they will be posted in July.

Dr Balbir Singh, in response to a question, said that the central government stopping the NHM funds of Punjab unconstitutional and vindictive, he said that despite this, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has not allowed any fund scarcity for the health sector of the state.

The health Minister said that the president of IMA Punjab and heart disease specialist Dr Sudhir Verma, have come forward to help the department, and based on the Gap Analysis Report submitted by them, the Punjab Government is working on it very seriously.
