Earlier in the day, Punjab govt has taken a ‘U’ turn as the state government has decided to take back its decision to dissolve Pacnchayats before the completion of their term. AG Punjab office informed Punjab and Haryana High Court that the state govt decided to withdraw decision to dissolve Panchayats in the state. As per Punjab govt advocates, the state will issue notification in a day or two in this regard.

Punjab govt decision to dissolve panchayats backfired and caused huge embarrassment to the government after panchayats knocked doors of Punjab and Haryana High Court. The government founding itself in a tight spot was left with no other option but to take a U-turn.

The order further said headquarter of these officers during their suspension period shall be at Chandigarh. They will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules.

Congress leader Partap singh Bajwa said ” Why has @BhagwantMann not taken any action against the Rural Development Minister? The notification could not have been made without his knowledge, and if it had been made without his knowledge then it shows the incompetence of the Minister. Action should be taken at the top, rather than looking to scapegoat others for his Government’s failure. If @BhagwantMann truly respected the democratic rights of the people of Punjab, may be he would have put his resignation in by now.  It seems he cares more for power than defending the interests of the people.”
