PWD focus is to ensure quality work, check who flout rules-Vijayinder

“The Research and Testing Laboratory of Public Works Department (PWD) spread on 2.7 acres and the testing laboratory has been modernized, with an aim to improve the quality control “said Vijayinder Singla on inspecting the Research and Testing Laboratory of PWD at Patiala.
He said the upgradation of quality testing research laboratory of the department; an approval has been given for purchase of latest quality control equipment.
While launching the plantation drive of his department at Research and Testing Laboratory of PWD, Patiala, Singla said the initiative taken by the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh to plant saplings on the occasion of 550 year of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, all the buildings of PWD in the state of Punjab will be covered and saplings will be planted.
“Projects related to PWD department, commenced by Punjab Government on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev’s 550-year-old Prakash Purab, will be completed in the middle of next year” said PWD Minister Vijay Inder Singla. He said that the road projects will be completed by 30 June 2019 and the bridges project will be completed by September 30, 2019.
Later he reviewed the Research and Testing Laboratory functioning, testing material and materials used in the laboratory. Singla said that major improvements have been made in construction works including roads and bridges in Punjab. Singla said that his main target was to improve the quality of development by utilizing the ability of engineers of PWD.
He further informed that instructions have already to all the HOD’s ,field officers to ensure that all kinds of tests presently being conducted from private labs should be conducted only from this research lab.
He said the main focus of the department is to ensure quality work while keeping a check on contractors who flout rules by taking projects a low rate and using adequate material in the project
