Modi dedicates the Phase 1C – Academic and Residential Complex of IIT Ropar to the Nation

IIT Ropar takes pride as Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Phase 1C – Academic and Residential Complex of IIT Ropar to the nation. This will further boost the institute’s commitment to fostering excellence in education, research, and innovation.  Governor of Punjab,  Banwarilal Purohit graced the occasion. Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar,  Dinesh K.S., Registrar, IIT Ropar along with the other dignitaries also participated in the event. In his address, Prime Minister Modi congratulated the IIT Ropar fraternity, including students and researchers, for their unwavering dedication to transform India into a strong and vibrant nation on the global stage. He emphasized that India is a country with a rich heritage and culture, rooted in knowledge from ancient times. The Prime Minister referred to the students as the “warriors of the nation,” urging them to contribute to the country’s progress and development.

IIT Ropar has consistently maintained its position among the top-ranking educational institutions in India and abroad. The institute has shared the top place in the country just behind  the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, securing a rank between 351 and 400 in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023. Furthermore, IIT Ropar has been ranked as number one in the world in research citations, demonstrating the institute’s remarkable contribution to the global academic community.

In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), IIT Ropar has secured 22nd place in engineering, 33rd in overall rankings, and 46th in the Research Index. Notably, IIT Ropar has outperformed all other Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in terms of research quality, with the highest score in Citations per Paper. This achievement highlights the institute’s dedication to producing high-quality research output that benefits society.

IIT Ropar’s focus on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship skills is evident through its structured incubation program, which provides comprehensive support to budding entrepreneurs. In his speech,  Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Punjab, mentioned these points, wishing the institute the best in its journey forward. He also mentioned that he is eager to revisit and extend their best wishes for IIT Ropar’s continuous growth.

Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar, shared the institute’s success story, highlighting its decade-long commitment to sustainability as an integral part of the campus master plan. He also presented a video showcasing the green campus and its various sustainability features. Furthermore, Prof. Ahuja highlighted the institute’s accomplishments in rankings and its active involvement in research and development since its inception.
