After Punjab government grants extension in the tenure of Director Generation PSPCL and Director Finance &Commercial PSTCL for another three months , today, PSEB Engineers’ Association (PSEBEA) shots off a letter to the chief minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann and raises concern about the ad-hocism in power sector appointments.

Jasvir Singh Dhiman, president PSEB Engineers’ Association said “ PSEBEA is a professional body of Power Engineers. Our main objective remains the healthiness of the Punjab Power Sector and the association has always given our unbiased view on the matters concerning the Punjab Power Sector. As you are aware, the power sector requires long-term planning to ensure a reliable and quality power supply. The Association has raised this issue multiple times. The selection process to fill-up the post of Director Generation PSPCL and Director Finance &Commercial PSTCL was started after your intervention.Regrettably, the power department has failed to complete the selection process and has again reverted to offering temporary extensions to Directors in PSPCL and PSTCL.”

Ajaypal Singh Atwal, general secretary, PSEBEA said  “additionally, crucial positions such as Member Power BBMB, a Punjab cadre post in BBMB, Member Technical PSERC, Director HR PSPCL and CMD PSTCL have been lying vacant since long. Furthermore, the vital post of Chief Electrical Inspector has been lying vacant. Such ad-hoc decisions by the Power Department are not only hindering decision-making on these important posts but also creating uncertainty in the power sector, thereby affecting the efficiency of both corporations.”
