Punjab gets representation in BBMB board; member power appointed by power ministry

Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) gets a member power after a gap of two month’s period as Union government has given current charge of the post of Member (Power), Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) to Jagjit Singh, Chief Engineer, BBMB for a period of 06 months from the date of assumption of current charge of the post or till the regular appointment to the post, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.
He had assumed the charge of Chief Engineer Generation Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) Nangalin March 2023. Born on March 3 ,1968 , Er Jagjeet Singh did his BE Electrical With Hon’s from PEC Chandigarh.
In 1989 and joined PSEB as AE in 1991 at GGSSTP Ropar. After serving 24 years in Thermal power plants ( 7 years at GGSSTP Ropar and 17 years at GHTP Lehra Mohabbat ) and 7.5 years in Enforcement , TTI , Hydel plants ,P& M , he has been elevated to highest post of Engineering Cadre by PSPCL.
He is known for his honesty , dedication to Deptt besides being famous as Thermal expert. He has also undergone 1 year training of Power Plant in Germany.
The post remained vacant since the retirement of Amarjit Singh Juneja in April 2024, who also remained on this post with current charge.
The supreme body of Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) is headed by a Whole Time Chairman and two Whole Time Members i.e. Member (Irrigation) and Member (Power) who head the Irrigation and Power Wings of BBMB respectively. Punjab and Haryana are the biggest stakeholders of BBMB with maximum share in irrigation and power benefits. As per long-standing convention for the last 55 years, Member (Power) was always drawn from Punjab, while Member(Irrigation) from Haryana and Chairman appointed from outside of partner states.

Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) is dedicated to the service of nation and is engaged in regulation of the supply of Water & Power from Bhakra Nangal and Beas Projects to the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pardesh, Delhi and Chandigarh.
