Elimination of child labour: three children rescued in Patiala during inspection of dhabas and shops by district task force

The District Task Force in Patiala conducted inspections of various dhabas and shops to combat child labour. During these inspections, the team rescued three children who were found to be engaged in child labour and presented them before the Child Welfare Committee, Patiala.

Dr. Shaina Kapoor, District Child Protection Officer, Patiala, provided details on the incident. She stated that the Child Welfare Committee is currently scrutinizing the documents of the rescued children. The process of rehabilitating these children is underway, and they will soon be connected with various government schemes to aid their recovery and development.

The District Child Protection Officer also mentioned that the committee has requested the police department to take appropriate action against those responsible. Additionally, the education department has been urged to enroll these children in school as soon as possible.

Labour Inspector Harmanpreet Kaur from the labour department led the departmental actions against the shops and dhabas. The inspection team also included social worker Puneet Singla and outreach workers Shalini Kaur, Pradeep Kumar, and Sukhdeep Singh from the District Child Protection Office, along with ASI Jarnail Singh from the police department.
