Private person nabbed by vigilance bureau for taking Rs 1,50,000 bribe

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its drive against corruption in the state, on Monday has apprehended a private person named Parveen Kumar, a resident of Bhadaur town in district Barnala while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 1,50,000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB informed that the above said accused had earlier lodged a complaint on the Chief Minister’s Anti Corruption Action Line against Mohinder Singh, a resident of Barnala city for demanding a bribe. After this the said accused Parveen Kumar started blackmailing said Mohinder Singh to pay the bribe for withdrawal of his online complaint.
He further added that the aforementioned Mohinder Singh has approached the VB and alleged that said accused Parveen Kumar along with co-accused Gajju Ram, residing at village Bhadalwarh, district Barnala have been demanding a bribe of Rs. 2,50,000 for compromising with him regarding online complaint.
The spokesperson added that after preliminary enquiry of this complaint the VB team laid a trap and the above accused Parveen Kumar was arrested accepting bribe money of Rs. 1,50,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. The co-accused in this is on the run. A case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigation into this case was under progress.
