National Education Policy Orientation and Sensitisation Programme Successfully Concludes at UGC-MMTTC Punjabi University

Eight-day long Orientation & Sensitization Programme on National Education Policy has been successfully concluded today at the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala.

This intensive sensitisation programme was conducted through online mode from 18-07-2024 to 29-07-2024 as per the instructions of UGC-MHRD. Around 150 participants from different parts of the country have successfully completed this programme.

The purpose of this orientation programme was to prepare teachers for academic excellence, effective professional performance and active engagement in the task of national reconstruction and to popularize National Education Policy-2020. Fourteen internationally renowned academicians and eminent researchers from premierindian institutes and  organizations such as Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Education (IIE), Central & State Universities, National Institute of Educational Planning & Administration (NIEPA) and  Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) have delivered talks to enlighten the participants about the various aspects of national education policy like holistic &multidisciplinary education,   Indian knowledge systems & multilingualism, academic leadership, governance & management, higher education & society, research &development, skill development, student diversity & inclusive education, autonomy to the institution &choice to the students and curriculum, development, pedagogy & assessment.

Prof. T V Kattimani, Vice Chancellor, Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh, who is the Member of Committee for the Draft National Education Policy-2020 and Member, National Steering Committee for the Development of National Curriculum Frameworks had also delivered a talk on student diversity and inclusive education.

During valedictory session, Prof. Raman Maini, Director, UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala said, “The National Education Policy-2020 isa progressive step towards creating an inclusive, equitable, and forward-thinking educational ecosystem.Participants have been sensitized with a vision to recognize the diverse needs of our learners, the importance of holistic development, and the imperative of fostering innovation and critical thinking.Prof. Anup Thakur, Course Coordinator said, “This programme has reminded us that education is not merely a system, but a catalyst for change.
