Special Investigating Team (SIT), headed by DIG Patiala range Harcharan Singh Bhullar had summoned shiromani akali dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia to present before the team, investigating FIR No. 2, dated 20-12-2021 registered under Sections 25,27-A, 29 of NDPS Act 1985 at Police Station State Crime, SAS Nagar, on July 30,2024.
In reply to the summons issued by the SIT, Majithia accuses SIT to deliberately preventing him to remain present in the court at Chandigarh after the court of CJM had directed Majithia and others to remain present on July 30,2024.
Majithia in his reply dated July 30,2024 to the SIT’s summon said “ I am aghast, dismayed and deeply sadden to mention that is the third attempt by the SIT deliberately to present me from reaching the honorable courts in order to sabotage recourse available to me in law. As a law abiding citizen of this country, the directions of the courts are sacrosanct to me. It is matter of record and in public domain that the court of Sachin Yadav, chief judicial magistrate, Chandigarh vide order dated 22-7-2024 in case bearing number PCH No. 1994/ 2022 pending against me and others has directed us to remain present before the court on 30-7-2024.
“Time and again willful efforts are being made to try and keep me away from courts in an attempt to make me suffer and adverse order, as the notice of the SIT dated 23-07-2024 was issued after the last hearing before CJM, Chandigarh dated 22-7-2024, when specific directions were issued by the court of the CJM, Chandigarh to remain present before the court “ added Majithia.
When contacted DIG Patiala range Harcharan Singh Bhullar who is heading the SIT said “ Bikram Majithia seems to willfully skipping the SIT summons on regular bases.”
Refuting the charges of summoning him on the dates of court hearing, Bhullar said “ SIT has no records of court cases pending against him. He has never informed the SIT about his upcoming court hearings. He never objected whenever summons is delivered to him. Rather than he sent his reply at the last moment or on the day whenever SIT fixes the date for investigation. These are baseless allegations that SIT is preventing him from appearing before the court. He must inform the SIT about his court hearing cases in advance and we will summon him on other day. In today’s case had he informed the officer who delivered the summons or informed us before the due date (July 30,2024) we would have definitely changed the date. “
Majithia alleged SIT for deliberately preventing him to attend court hearing; SIT blame him for willfully skipping summons. Bhullar added that we would issue a fresh summons to him to join the investigation.
