Govt employees protest march at Karnal seeking restoration of OPS

Government employees including power utilities employees led by district president Sandeep Turan on Wednesday, July 31 held a pension protest “ akrosh march” in Karnal seeking the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for all state government employees. The employees gathered near the old bus stand and marched to Mini Sectt wearing black clothes.
Vijender Dhariwal, state president said Pension Bahali Sangarsh Samiti (PBSS) is demanding restoration of pension for 2 lakh government employees and social security for their families. At the protest rally of employees under the banner of PBSS resolved to organise a huge rally in Panchkula on September 1 and march to gherao the official residence of Haryana chief minister.
Padam Parjapati Sr. vice president and Varun Sharma general secretary said that all the elected representatives take one and more pensions as per their number of tenures , but the same pension is being denied to the employees who put in more than 30 years of service .
Baljit Beniwal who especially came from Hissar for the rally said that no BJP ruled state has restored the old pension scheme and only the congress ruled state are reverting back to old pension scheme.
Pushpal Kambot district co-ordinator If the government does not implement OPS in future, then in the upcoming assembly elections, once again under Vote for OPS, the government employees will not take long to oust the current party from power.
The Haryana government employees have been seeking restoration of the Old Pension Scheme ever since it was discontinued in 2007. They have intensified the demand ever since the neighboring Rajasthan in 2022 announced restoration of the Old Pension Scheme.
