One fourth Punjab to suffer in peak summer season as PSPCL management seeks time for resolution of power engineers’ issues

After the agitation call given by Punjab state electricity board engineers association (PSEBEA) to launch state wide agitation for not adhering to their demands, the powercom management today called the association member to discuss their issues.
The power engineers’ association has decided to postpone their agitation, except in West Zone, after the meeting was held between PSPCL Management and PSEB Engineers’ Association.
PSPCL West Zone comprises the districts of Faridkot, Bathinda, Moga, Muktsar Sahib, Ferozepur, Fazilka. As per available information, the power consumers are going to suffer for upcoming days as in these districts as switching off of official mobile phones during non-working hours (i.e., 5PM to 9AM) will continue.
“During non-working hours (from 5:00 pm to 9:00 AM) the consumers are going to suffer as no powercom engineers from SDO to chief engineer are going to take any call” said a powercom engineer.
As per PSEBEA spokesperson, “ after the assurance for timely resolution has been given regarding the Revocation of suspension of Sr. XEN Store, Kotkapura in Faridkot district and resolution of pending issues of engineers i.e reductions in pay scales for AEs, TBPS, and other pay scale matters” the state level zonal protest rallies and the state level official mobile phone switch-off program has been postponed upto August 6,2024.
It further added that “however, the ongoing protest program in the West Zone, Bathinda, regarding the switching off of official mobile phones during non-working hours (i.e., 5PM to 9AM) will continue.
Earlier on July 31,2024 Punjab state electricity board engineers association (PSEBEA) had issued a ‘Notice for Agitation against Hostile Work Environment and Non Resolution of Issues’ to the CMDs of PSPCL and PSTCL.
The association had chalked out a agitation program with “all Engineers of West Zone, Bathinda to switch off official mobile phones in non-working hours (i.e. 5PM to 9AM) from 30/7/24 onwards. Zonal protest rallies will be held across Punjab from 1/8/24 onwards. All engineers across Punjab will switch off their official Mobile phones in non working hours (i.e. 5PM to 9AM) daily from 5/8/24 onwards. Engineers on shift duties – mobile phones should be switched off during their off-hours. Also phones will be kept off during holidays including Sat/Sun. Whatsapp Calls and messages will not be entertained during the protest hours.
