Lady arrested by vigilance bureau for taking bribe in cash, cheque for managing transfer of a govt official

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, on Friday, has arrested a lady named Dimple, wife of Naib Singh, a resident of Dhobi Ghat, Patiala red handed while she was accepting Rs. 20,000 cash and a cheque amounting to Rs 30,000 as a bribe. Her accomplice in this case namely Ajay Goel is at large.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned accused lady was arrested based on a complaint lodged by Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, Patiala.

He further added that the complainant has approached the VB and informed that his sister in law Poonam Arora was serving as upper division clerk in Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Patiala. She was transferred from head office PSPCL Patiala to the office of Superintendent Engineer,  PSPCL near 23 number Phatak, Patiala. The Complainant was approached by the accused and her accomplice Ajay Goel, a resident of Ram Bagh Colony, Patiala. They asked the complainant to pay Rs. 2 lakhs as a bribe for transfer as they have good links with senior officials of PSPCL.

Lady arrested by vigilance bureau for taking bribe in cash, cheque for managing transfer of a govt official. The complainant further alleged that later they agreed to get Rs 50,000 as a bribe money but with the condition to give them Rs. 20,000 in cash and a cheque of Rs. 30,000.

The spokesperson informed that after a preliminary inquiry of this complaint a VB team laid a trap in which the accused lady Dimple was arrested in presence of two official witnesses. He added that co-accused Ajay Goel, in this case, is at large. In this regard a case has been registered against both the accused at VB police station Patiala range. Further investigation into this case was under progress.
