Former bureaucrat appointed Punjab RERA chairman

Punjab government has appointed former IRS officer Rakesh Kumar Goyal as the Chairman, Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) for five years. He was earlier member of RERA in Punjab.
Punjab real estate regulatory authority (RERA) chairman Satya Gopal had tendered his resignation in February 2024. The 1988-batch IAS officer was appointed to the post in December 2022 for a period of five years.
RERA came into force in Punjab in May 2017 to safeguard consumer interests in the real estate sector and foster transparency and accountability between buyers and developers.
