A Glorious Celebration of Sportsmanship: MBS Punjab Sports University organized annual athletics meet

The Annual Athletic Meet of The Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University and Prof. Gursewak Singh Govt. College of Physical Education, Patiala was conducted on 27 March 24 at the college premises .
Prof (Dr.) Arvind, Vice Chancellor Punjabi University, was the Chief Guest, while RS Gill, Former DGP Punjab Police and President, Basketball Federation of India, Dr. M.L Kamlesh, Former Principal, Laxmibai National College of Physical Education, Thiruvananthapuram, and Dr. Rupa Saini, Hockey Olympian, Arjuna Awardee and former Principal Gursewak College, were the guests of honour. Dr. Manmohan Singh, a renowned cardiologist and son of Professor Gursewak Singh after whom the college is named, was a special invitee. The other guests included the District Sports Officer (DSO) of Patiala, the Principal of the State College of Education, Govt. Arts and Sports College, Jalandhar and Modern School, Patiala.
Highlighting the significance of Annual Athletics Meet, Lt. Gen (Dr.) JS Cheema, Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University, stated the opening ceremony is being conducted on the lines of Olympic Protocol, that is followed in the National level Khelo India Games and Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan.
The impressive March Past by the students of University and College, Oath-Taking Ceremony by the Athletes, Officials and Judges as was followed in Tokyo Olympics 2020, declaration of Opening the Meet by the Chief Guest and the Torch Relay by distinguished athletes hugely impressed the audience. An enthralling thematic sports performance signifying the spirit of sportsmanship and physical fitness captivated the audience, setting the tone for a day filled with excitement, camaraderie, and excellence. The dignitaries also visited the newly established boxing hall of the University.
A Glorious Celebration of Sportsmanship: MBS Punjab Sports University organized annual athletics meet. Harshehbaz Singh Bhullar of Sports University (student of MPES 1st year) and Reena Rani of Gursewak College (student of MPEd 1st year) were declared the best male and female athletes respectively. Inder Singh House of Sports University was declared as the overall winner of the Annual Athletic Meet 2024, while ….House of Gursewak College was declared the Best in march past.
Dr. Arvind, the Chief Guest exhorted the students to work harder in the true spirit of sportsmanship to usher in a vibrant and healthy society.
The Annual Athletic Meet at Prof. Gursewak Singh Govt College of Physical Education, Patiala, was a jubilant celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and excellence. It brought together athletes, achievers, and supporters to revel in the thrill of competition and the joy of participation, that defines the dynamics of sports at Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University.
