“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.” This quote of Brad Henry aptly highlights the significant role that a teacher has to play in nurturing children and helping them become wholesome and responsible global citizens.  Every year, 5th September is celebrated as Teacher’s Day as a tribute to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan who was a respected philosopher, scholar and a brilliant teacher.  This day is a reminder for everyone of the priceless contribution teachers make in our society.   Surpassing their role as educators, today teachers are taken up roles as mentors and guides to help students shape their lives.

With the advancement of technology in education, there is a major change in how students learn, engage, and grow.  A passionate teacher beautifully learns various avenues to integrate technology thoughtfully, thus providing diverse learning opportunities, and staying committed to the principles of holistic development.  In the 21st century, the role of a teacher has grown even more complex and inspiring. Today’s teachers are not only knowledge-givers but also technology navigators, emotional supporters, and global thinkers. They embrace new ways of learning, adapt to a rapidly changing world, and prepare students for challenges of the future. Therefore, teaching in this era is essentially guiding minds, inspiring hearts, and shaping futures in a world of endless possibility.

What makes teachers truly special is their heart — the compassion they show, the time they give, and the belief they place in each student. With a simple word of encouragement, teachers leave a mark that lasts a lifetime.  Education is a key to progress and socio-economic development.  It is a weapon said Nelson Mandela which one can use to change the world.  And in fact, teachers are the quiet forces that make every effort to use it for the betterment of our society.  In this context, Aristotle had profoundly said, “Those who educate children well are more to be honored than parents, for these only gave life, those the art of living well.”  On this teachers’ day, I wish every teacher blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ for their invaluable service and pray that they become resilient to face and overcome challenges of our times and remain committed to help every child realize their immense God given potential.

Happy Teachers’ Day!
