AAP breaks the jinx; appointed a woman as PPSC’s second chairperson in its 75 years of history

Once again, aam aadmi party has broken the jinx and appointed a woman as chairperson of state’s premier recruitment agency-Punjab public service commission (PPSC).

Today, the state government has appointed Prof.(Dr.) Jamit Kaur Teji as the new chairperson (officiating) of the PPSC.

AAP breaks the jinx; appointed a woman as PPSC’s second chairperson in its 75 years of history as after the partition the Punjab public service commission was re surged in February, 1948, at Shimla.  As per the available information, she is the second chairperson of the PPSC in its long 75 years of history. The first woman chairperson was former MP, Santosh Chaudhary.

When contacted, she said “my priority is to conduct free and fair examinations of Punjab Civil Services(Judicial) , appointments to posts of Punjab Civil Services(Executive) Register A-II, appointments to posts of Punjab Civil Services(Executive) Register C, examination to the posts of Naib-Tehsildar, Department of Revenue, recruitment to Agriculture Development Officer and many more as per government’s requirement”

Prof.(Dr.) Jamit Kaur Teji born to Late Parsa Singh Teji, Former Assistant Advocate General Punjab and Late Pritam Kaur Teji at Guru Har Sahai, District Ferozepur Punja. She did her primary and higher secondary education in Government Schools, Faridkot City, Punjab.

Later, she did her graduation, post graduation and higher studies P.hd (Doctorate of Philosophy) from Panjab University Chandigarh and Post Graduate Diploma in Media Laws from The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research(NALSAR), Hyderabad.

She took voluntary retirement after teaching at P.G. Government College for Girls Sector 11 Chandigarh for 33 years on March 12,2018. She was appointed member PPSC by Capt Amarinder Singh government and took oath as Member of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) on March 13,2018 by Governor of Punjab.

 History of PPSC

Joint public service commission, the precursor of the Punjab public service commission, with its writ running from the Khyber pass to the Jamuna near Delhi, was born at Lahore on May 1,1937. In the wake of the partition, the Punjab public service commission re surged in February, 1948, at Shimla with its revised jurisdiction extending over the then province of east Punjab. following the merger of the states of Punjab and PEPSU, it shifted to Patiala on Nov.1st,1956. On 1st Nov1966, its territorial jurisdiction again decreased due to the formation of the states of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh
