After DCs suspension, 14 officers from 3 districts suspended by Punjab government

In a late night action, the State government has issued a suspension orders of 8 tehsildars and  6 naib tehsildars working under the revenue department.

“Proceedings for major punishment under rule 8 of the Punjab Civil Services (Punishment and Appeal) Rules, 1970 are contemplated against the following Tehsildars/Naib-Tehsildars. They are placed under suspension with immediate effect,” the notification read.

Earlier in the day, the Punjab government had issued an ultimatum to striking officers, demanding they return to work immediately or face suspension.

The Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue issued the warning to all the state revenue officers following Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s criticism for the tehsildar’s strike “in favour of their corrupt colleagues.”

On February 17,2025 Punjab govt had suspended a deputy commissioner Sri Muktsar Sahib, Rajesh Tripathi, IAS in an alleged corruption case.

On February 26,2025, Punjab Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) cum Financial Commissioner Revenue (FCR) Anurag Verma has ordered the dismissal of Naib Tehsildar Varinderpal Singh Dhoot for illegally sanctioning the mutation of shamlat (common village land) at village Seonk in Kharar in favour of private individuals
