AICTE sponsored program for non- teaching staff begins at MRSPTU

Two week long All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), sponsored Professional Development Program (PDP) for Non- teaching staff started at the Auditorium of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda.

More than 30 eminent resource persons from various prestigious institutions National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chandigarh, Central University Punjab, Bathinda, Punjabi University, Patiala and other Institutions are delivering lectures on important topics in this PDP. Hundreds of employees of MRSPTU will attend and benefit from the two week-long event.

Renowned administrator and academician, Col. B. Vankat Director, Faculty development cell (FDC Cell), AICTE, New Delhi was chief guest during the inaugural ceremony.

While speaking on the occasion, Col. Vankat stressed upon the importance of Professional Development Program for Non- Teaching staff.  He pointed out that PDP will facilitate the identification of the training needs of different categories of non-teaching employees and suggest specific areas for training and duration of the training programme preferred by the employees.

Col. Vankat pointed out that Practical knowledge is most important for Non-Teaching staff of technical institutes. “More hours spent in practical training will bridge the skill gap,” he said while adding that lack of practical knowledge will definitely affect their work.

While delivering inaugural speech, MRSPTU, Vice Chancellor Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu said that the PDP is aimed to enable the Non -Teaching Staff in furtherance of their duties towards the institute / University, to imbibe latest / futuristic means and methods as pertaining to their profession / department, besides effectively participation and conducting activities with perfection without supervision to become role models for others to follow. He said, “the employees would have to develop “a culture of learning to know good; learn to do good; and learn to be good”. Only then will good things emerge,” .

Earlier, Prof. Dr. Balwinder Singh, Professor and University Coordinator of the training programme gave introduction of the training program.

Er. Amardev Singh from NITTTR, Chandigarh explained that frequent training and capacity building activities are essential to acquaint themselves with the rapid structural changes particularly in the university system and the whole education sector in general.

 

Prof. Suresh Kumar Dhameja, NITTTR,  Chandigarh stressed that training needs assessment which aims at finding which kind of knowledge and skills are required by an employee to improve his/her work efficiency and increase productivity.

Dr. Nachhatar Singh, Former Principal Cooperative Societies Institute, Jalandhar spoke on Human Values and office work effectiveness. He stressed the need for imparting rich cultural heritage and traditions that gave importance to human values based knowledge to staff to build their character and ensure that they contribute positively towards growth and glory of the institution and address the issues of stakeholders with smiling faces.

University Registrar, Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Brar stressed upon  the need of Non-Teaching Staff training to up-to-date their respective skills and to be able to effectively participate in day to day activities pertaining to their profession / department. Campus Director, & MRSPTU, Dean Academics, Dr. Savina Bansal and Deputy Registrar, Agyapal Singh also spoke about various aspects of the event.

Prof. (Dr.) Balwinder Singh, University Coordinator of the training programme led a team working very hard to make the program a grand success. He welcomed the Chief Guest, the resource persons and the participants of PDP. He also thanked FDC Cell of AICTE for financial assistance to conduct such valuable programs.

Programme Anchor Prof. Sunita Kotwal conducted the programme very well. The programme Coordinator Er. Yadwinder Sharma and Er. Sukhvinder Singh of Mechanical Engineering Department played key role in organizing the event and unique activities.
