AIIMS Bathinda-Cabinet approves creation of Director Post

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the creation of one post of Director in the basic pay of Rs. 2,25,000/- (fixed) plus NPA but not exceeding Rs.2,37,500/- each for new AIIMS at Bathinda (Punjab) along with Rae Bareli (Uttar Pradesh), Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Guwahati (Assam), Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh) and Deoghar (Jharkhand).
The Director will be the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute and will be in-charge of overall administration of the Institute and allocate duties to the officers and employees of the Institute.

The establishment of each new AIIMS will add 100 undergraduate and 60 BSc nursing seats. Each AIIMS has 20 superspecialty sections and 750 beds. The upgrade of one state government hospital will lead to the addition of 10 superspecialty departments to each such institution and an average of 15 additional PG seats.
On august 24, Union Minister and Bathinda Lok Sabha MP performed the ground breaking ceremony. Earlier Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bathinda, pledging that the institute will be made functional by 2020. “We will come again to inaugurate this project in 2020 in our (next) tenure,” said at the time of inauguration.
