AIIMS Bathinda Makes History: Tops INIs, Becomes India’s First Govt Institute with NABL Accreditation

In a landmark achievement toward strengthening quality healthcare delivery, AIIMS Bathinda has become the first among Institutes of National Importance (INIs) and government institutions in India to secure NABL accreditation for its Laboratory and Radiological Services.This milestone represents a major advancement in patient safety, diagnostic accuracy, and adherence to the highest healthcare quality standards. Notably, the NABL accreditation has been achieved across four major laboratory and testing specialties—Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology and Radiology, highlighting the comprehensive scope and robustness of the institute’s diagnostic services.
The NABL accreditation, awarded after a rigorous and comprehensive assessment process, recognizes the institute’s compliance with national quality benchmarks and international best practices in diagnostic services. It ensures that laboratory investigations and radiological imaging – including blood tests, biopsies, infectious disease testing, CT scan, MRI, and other diagnostic procedures – are performed with the highest standards of precision, safety, and reliability.
This significant accomplishment was made possible under the visionary leadership and continuous guidance of Executive Director Prof. (Dr.) Ratan Gupta, whose unwavering support, strategic oversight, and emphasis on a culture of quality, were instrumental throughout the accreditation journey.
The journey toward accreditation involved months of meticulous preparation, including extensive documentation, internal audits, equipment calibration and validation, staff competency assessments, and the implementation of standardized operating procedures across all departments.
