AIIMS Bathinda observed Hepatitis Awareness Week

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) , Bathinda observed ‘Hepatitis Awareness Week’ from 28 July to 03 August 2022.
Celebrated by the World Hepatitis Alliance to highlight the need for accelerating the fight against viral hepatitis, the theme for World Hepatitis Day this year was ‘I Can’t Wait’. Keeping in mind the high burden of Viral Hepatitis in the region, the week started with a Patient Awareness Programme on The Department of General Medicine, AIIMS Bathinda observed 28th July.
Faculty members and residents from the department interacted with patients and raised awareness about the causative agents, routes of transmission, testing and management of Viral Hepatitis. The department organized a Hepatitis Screening Camp on 1st August in which more than 100 patients were tested for Hepatitis B and C free of cost. With timely diagnosis and institution of therapy the risk of developing complications as well as mortality can be lowered. The awareness week came to an end with an e-Poster competition on the theme ‘A World without Hepatitis’ on 3rd August.
Dr. (Prof.) D.K. Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bathinda was the Patron of the event and Dr. Satish Gupta, Dean, AIIMS Bathinda was the Co-Patron. Dr. Preeti Singh Dhoat, HOD General Medicine, was the Organizing Chairperson while Dr. Amandeep Kaur and Dr. Niket Verma were Organizing Secretaries and Dr. Maninder Kansal and Dr. Deepak Chaudhary were Organizing Members of the awareness week.
