Institute of Nursing Education and Research (INER), AIIMS Bathinda Successfully Concludes Seven-Day Workshop on Patient Safety

From 17th December 2024 to 23rd December 2024, Under the Scheme: Development of Nursing Services by MoHFW, New Delhi Organized by Institute of Nursing Education and Research (INER), AIIMS Bathinda under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Meenu Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bathinda. Institute of Nursing Education and Research (INER) AIIMS Bathinda successfully concluded a seven-day workshop on “Patient Safety: Ensuring Excellence, Preventing Harm”, which was held from 17th December 2024 to 23rd December 2024. The workshop was organized under the Development of Nursing Services Scheme by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), New Delhi, with the aim of empowering nursing professionals and enhancing patient safety standards.

The workshop culminated in an auspicious inaugural ceremony, where Prof. (Dr.) Kamlesh K. Sharma, Principal-cum-Professor, INER, AIIMS Bathinda, delivered a warm welcome address. The ceremony was graced by respected Prof. (Dr.) Meenu Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bathinda, who highlighted the vital role nurses play in creating a safe environment and delivering exceptional patient care.Prof. (Dr.)Akhilesh Pathak, Dean Academics, AIIMS Bathinda highlighted the importance of diagnostic and patient safety though a scintillating message.Prof. (Dr.) Rajiv Kumar Gupta, Medical Superintendent, AIIMS Bathinda emphasized the critical role of healthcare professionals in fostering a culture of safety and ensuring quality patient care. In his keynote address, Dr. Gupta appreciated the proactive efforts of AIIMS Bathinda in conducting capacity-building initiatives to strengthen the healthcare system.

The workshop featured several key highlights, including expert lectures delivered by renowned healthcare professionals and patient safety experts from both within and outside the institution. Participants also engaged in interactive activities, receiving comprehensive handson training in critical areas such as risk assessment, error reporting systems, and safety protocols. The workshop’s focus areas included medication and diagnostic safety, infection control, team-based care, and patient-centred practices, providing a well-rounded learning experience.

The workshop drew a diverse gathering of 30 esteemed participants, comprising nursing professionals from a range of hospitals, nursing colleges, and institutes across Punjab. This event provided a dynamic platform for cross-pollination of ideas, facilitating a rich exchange of knowledge and expertise among healthcare practitioners from varied institutional backgrounds.
