AIIMS Bathinda organized WOUNDCON 2022- Annual National Conference of Indian Society of Wound Management

Department of Burns and Plastic Surgery, AIIMS Bathinda organized WOUNDCON 2022 from 5th to 7th November, 2022, 24th Annual National Conference of Indian Society of Wound Management. It was based on the theme “Navigating the Currents in Wound Care”

The conference was honoured by the presence of Prof. V. K. Shukla (BHU, Varanasi) as Guest of Honour, Prof. Somprakas Basu (President, ISWM & Head of Dept. General Surgery, AIIMS Rishikesh), Prof. Vivek Srivastava & Dr. Farhanul Huda. During this session, venerated international and national clinicians were invited to disseminate their knowledge of wound care with the budding generation of doctors. Day one witnessed six sessions chaired by eminent professors/doctors and it was followed by the official inauguration with the speeches given by respected Director Sir Prof. D.K. Singh, Dean Prof. Satish Gupta, the guest of honor Prof. V. K. Shukla and the organising chairperson of WOUNDCON, Dr. Altaf Mir. It was succeeded by a cultural night to entertain the guests and students.

Day two saw six sessions again along with free paper and award paper presentations and photo assay competition. In award paper presentation, Dr. Aakansha Goswami from AIIMS Rishikesh secured 1st position followed by A. Dattsai Subramanyam and Dr. Preeti Acharya. Rare case presentation was won by Ekta Pareek of AIIMS Bathinda followed by Dr. Ashish Das and Dr. Sreenadh. Poster competition was won by students of AIIMS Bathinda viz. Jaya Jain, Pankhita Ghai and Sakshita Pal. So the host college secured four positions in total.

AIIMS Bathinda organized WOUNDCON 2022- Annual National Conference of Indian Society of Wound Management. Day three started with workshops giving hands on experience of Skin Graft Harvesting, VAC Application, Versajet Hydrosurgery System, Pressure Bandage and Four Layer Dressing. The day ended with a valedictory ceremony facilitating all the attendees.

ISWM conducted this conference to create a better understanding of physiology of wound healing, combined with knowledge of actions of dressing products available so that our upcoming doctors become proficient in wound management.
