All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) seeks intervention of chief minister Himachal Pradesh in resolving the issues of power engineers and employees working in HPSEB Ltd (HPSEBL) amicably before the beginning of light festival Diwali. . AIPEF fully supports all demands raised by the Joint Front of employees and engineers in notice.
Shailendra Dubey Chairman AIPEF in its letter to the chief minister mentions that the Joint Front of HPSEBL Employees & Engineers had given a notice on 18th October but nothing concrete was done by management to resolve the issues. On the contrary 51 functional posts of engineers have been abolished & 81 out sourced very low paid employees have been retrenched due to which the anger of the employees has flared up further
The letter mentions that the old pension for all the departments of the state government has been restored , which is a welcome step, but it is very unfortunate that the old pension is not restored in the power sector. AIPEF would like to draw your attention towards the fact that the then Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan Governments had restored old pension schemes for power sector employees also.
In case the power employees & engineers of Himachal Pradesh do not get justice, then the AIPEF will not remain silent spectators and the power engineers from all the states across the country will fully support the power engineers and employees of HP.
The engineers and employees demands include the restoration of 51 abolished engineering cadre posts, the withdrawal of retrenchment orders for 81 outsourced staff, the implementation of the old pension system, adherence to the bipartite agreement regarding asset transfer, initiation of the selection process for 1030 T/mate posts, the release of arrears of pension and salary, and the release of pending terminal benefits.
AIPEF urges CM Himachal to accept power employees’ demands. Expressing its disappointment with the management’s reluctance to address these issues, the Joint Front in a press note stated that they will start protest rallies from October 28 throughout the state .The growing discontent among employees and engineers over unmet demands , could lead to further escalation of protest in coming days if the demands are not met.
