The lathicharge by the police on the farmers sitting on a dharna in front of the liquor factory at Zira in Ferozepur district is highly condemnable. The lathi charge on the farmers proved how anti-farmer the Bhagwant Mann government is. This lathi charge on farmers in the month of December reminded him of the Mughal rule. This was stated by senior BJP leader Ajayvir Singh Lalpura.
He said that chief minister Bhagwant Mann should remember that these are the same farmers whom he made false promises and captured power and today when he got power the same farmers are beaten with sticks in the cold.Is this good governance?
Ajayvir Singh Lalpura condemns lathi charge on farmers outside liquor factory at Zira. He said that the farmers gathered outside the liquor factory of Mansoor Wala village near Zira were only protesting against intoxicants and to what extent is it justified to torture them like this?
He said the government was ignoring the farmers and beating them with sticks instead of listening to them.
Ajayvir Singh Lalpura asked whether on the one hand the government was launching anti-drug campaigns, issuing challans for consumption of liquor by people outside marriage palaces and on the other hand, promoting the liquor trade in the state. Why this dual policy? He said that Bhagwant Mann and his MLAs will have to bear the brunt of today’s lathi charge on the farmers because the people did not know that they were forming the government of the party which would beat them with the sticks, push the state towards more debt. It will suppress the constitutional right of teachers to sit on dharnas, demolish people’s houses in Latifpura and oppress farmers.
